Email signup forms are essential when building your online presence.
But to build subscribers, you need to have multiple email signup forms on your website.
Previously we’ve gone through the process of adding a signup form to your sidebar, but never talked about adding it under the content.
This tutorial will take you through the steps to add a signup form under your content.
Lets get started
There are a few ways of adding the signup form under your content, but I’m going to follow the same format as adding it to the sidebar, so we’re going to be using widgets.
If you can’t use FTP, you can find the files in Appearance > Editor within the admin, but please copy the unedited code into a safe place before you make the changes.
#1 – Register a new widget area
The first step is adding a widget area, to do this we need to edit the functions.php file (‘Theme Functions’ in the admin editor).
Scroll to the bottom of the file and add:
The above code will add a new section called “After Content” into Appearance > Widgets.
#2 – Add the new widget area into the theme file
Still in the functions.php file, we need to tell your theme to add that widget area directly after the post content.
You can do that with the following code:
If your website is running on a Genesis theme, then use the following code:
#3 – Add your code into the widget area
Finally, in the WordPress admin, Appearance > Widgets.
Drag the Text Widget into the new After Content area and copy in the code for your email signup form.
If the code you added doesn’t contain any styles then the form may look a little bit odd, be sure to adjust the styles in your stylesheet to get the look you desire.
It’s worth mentioning that because we’re using widgets after the content, you can place extra content into this area – for example you might want to advertise your latest product or promotion.
To do this you can insert the code into a text widget (or create a new widget specifically for it) and drop it into the After Content area that we just created.
